Once again, the UAE adds another outstanding achievement to its vast array of exceptional achievements. Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque Ranked the world’s second favorite landmark winning Trip Advisors Traveler’s Choice Award of 2017.

This is the third time the mosque receives this rank, having received in 2014.

Trip Advisor, the world’s largest travel site,basses the ranking of its Traveler’s Choice Award on the opinions, ratings and comments of millions of travelers and visitors of architectural, and historic sites around the world, and is regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in the world.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center’s administration attributed this achievement to several reasons, the most significant of which was the support of the nation’s wise leaderships, that led to the mosque becoming one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the UAE. The magnificence of its architecture and the exquisiteness of its ornamentation further enhance its splendor, so does its religious, and tolerant role in consolidating the notions of coexistence and cross-cultural communication, made it one of the most preferred destination all over the world throughout the year.

HE Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, stated that: “achieving the second place – two years in a row – as one of most significant architectural monument in the world, culminates the huge efforts and exceptional services it offers to visitors from all walks of life. Also in line with the vision of H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE "may Allah bless ", and H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and deputy Supreme commander of the armed forces to transform the UAE in general, and Abu Dhabi in particular into one of the most significant beacons of tolerance, and socio-cultural coexistence in the world.

Equally, H.E referred to the great support of H.H Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, which was a significant factor in the mosque achieving such a distinguished international statue.

also defining the mosque as a contemporary and unique model of Islamic architecture, and a tipping point in the contemporary arts of architecture that has become an Esthetic urban icon in both the UAE and the Middle East. Similarly, he referred to the unique harmony and integration amongst the essence of Islamic architecture, and the essentials of modern architecture, making the mosque a remarkable and an impressive model of architectural engineering.

H. E further referred to the rich architect of the mosque, that used unique materials, of high quality and standards in constructing it, coming from all around the world, Italy, Germany, Morocco, India, Turkey, China and Greece ...with 30 thousand workers, from 30 global contracting companies involved in its construction. making it the target of elite specialists interested in esthetic designs.

H. E Al Zaabi stated   that all these exceptional features marked the mosques distinctive presence in the arena of tourism, as one of the most significant and prominent tourist destinations in the world. it’s a source of pride and conceit that motivates us to work even harder to maintain the rigors performance levels that in turn ensure the increase in the mosque proportion in international tourism.

"The Sheikh Zayed Mosque will maintain its cultural, national, aesthetic, and religious value that will continue to reflect the concepts and values ​​consolidated   by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, deeply rooted in the UAEs soul and conscious, as an extension of its national identity “H.E Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi concluded.

On his behalf, Yusuf Abdullah Alobaidli, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center considered gaining such a rank to be a true reflection of the Centers enduring efforts to improve its level of performance, and achieve the finest and highest standards of quality in visitors ' services, while also depending on conducting periodically questionnaires to measure visitor satisfaction level, and gain feedback. in addition to periodically reviewing the level of efficiency and effectiveness of all its services and how will it accommodates various visitor needs.

He also stated that: another source of pride is that all the Centers services are 100% delivered. By UAE nationals, where all its staff are nationals, who were successfully able to reflect a bright image of their nation, ant its fine values inspired by the vision of the nation’s late founder Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan the Nahyan " may Allah rest his soul in peace”, and the UAEs strategy that strives to extend the bridges of cross cultural converge amongst various cultures and nations.

Alobaidli, ensured the Center is determined to consolidate its position as one of the most important humanitarian beacons in the world, and also enrich it’s cultural and civilizational movement through a scheme of events and activities to enhance its prominent role in upholding the values of tolerance and coexistence. . As well as organizing and hosting charitable and humanitarian initiatives, religious and cultural lectures, and the participation in international and local cultural and civilizational forums ,which are in line with its  vision and strategic plan, in accordance with the directives of its  wise leadership.

He also referred to the mosques fundamental role in promoting Abu Dhabi 's states, as a destination for visitors from across the region and the world, a prerequisite of " Abu Dhabi 2030 Plan " and also in line with the UAEs national agenda and the " 2021 Vision ".

On this occasion Alobaidli also disclosed some figures from the mosques latest vital operations statistics for the year 2016 which indicates that   the mosque’s total visitors reached 5,209,801, of which 1,448,394 were worshipers, 2,807,556 visitors, and 872.070 Iftar guest, while lectures and the Holy Quran memorization programs reached a total number of 9.781, with the distribution of about 72.000 total chartable meals.
